Hong Kong has one of the longest life expectancy in the world.
But many people chose to end their lives prematurely and tragically.
In a city like Hong Kong, with a population of 7.4 Mil, there are an
average of 3 suicides every day due to financial, health, social and
other issues. Those who died simply vanished from people's memory. We
try to remember their sacrifices.
Many people cannot handle the sufferings and chose to end their lives.
Some of the victims are as young as 13 and some are in their 90s. Those
excruciating stories were on the news for one day and disappeared from
people's mind forever. We try to keep a small footprint for those
untimely sacrifices. Hope they are gone, but not forgotten.

A 30-year-old Mr Fung fell from Wing Chai Industrial Building,
27-29 Wu Fong Street, San Po Kong. He was rushed to the hospital
and later died of serious injuries. The deceased lived in Tung Tau
Estate, Wong Tai Sin, and ran a small party room business in Wing
Chai Industrial Building for more than five years.
Ah Lok, was a friend of the deceased, but they were not very close
to each other. They have a cordial relationship because they were
both dog lovers. Earlier in the morning, the deceased sent a
message to Ah Lok, saying that he had left HK$13,090 in the mailbox
of the building for him, asking him to help take care of his father
who had suffered a stroke.
He also said, "We are destined to meet again in the next life... I
will go and accompany 'Chocolate' my beloved dog", and said that Ah
Lok "is the only one who considers me a friend."
Ah Lok said that on December 17 last year, the deceased was walking
his dog 'Chocolate' outside the building at the previous site. He
probably had not fastened the dog leash very well. As a result, his
dog 'Chocolate' ran out into the traffic and was hit by a vehicle
and died. Since then, the deceased has been deeply remorseful about
this.
Earlier in the day, the deceased left a message on a social
networking site, saying, "Bb, I really miss you so much. It's my
fault that I didn't take good care of you, and caused you to be hit
by a car and died. In the next life, can you stay with me again? I
promise I will take good care of you. Forgive me for raising you so
many years and have not even taken a photo with you. I'm sorry, I
will come to accompany you."
Mr Lin, a friend who had known the victim since childhood, came to
visit his father after learning of the accident and helped him deal
with the aftermath. Lin said that Fung's father is about 70 years
old and has been divorced. He suffered a stroke about a few years
ago. Fortunately, he can still take care of himself. However, the
father and son depend on each other, and the family's finances are
quite tight.
The victim occasionally gambled, and it was reported that he lost
more than he won and was slightly in debt. The victim had raised
his dog 'Chocolate' for about 9 years, and the relationship between
them was deep. After "Chocolate"'s accident, Fung blamed himself
very much and cried bitterly for it. He even cremated 'Chocolate' a
few days ago, which may have aroused Fung's deep sorrow again.
The Fung family had "no money to pay for his funeral". He hoped
that the Social Welfare Department and related organizations could
lend a helping hand to reduce the burden.
